City Park will light up for the holidays as the City of Hagerstown hosts this year’s celebration on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. the Christmas tree on the lake and silhouettes on the water will be illuminated and a reception will follow at locations throughout the City Park. The new lighted display is sponsored by the Columbia Bank – Hagerstown Trust Division.
Approximately 1500 luminaries will lead a glimmering trail through the park. Hospice of Washington County is se
lling luminaries in honor of or in memory of loved ones for their Pathways of the Heart Luminary Program. The names of individuals for whom the luminaries are purchased will be read on stage at 6:30 p.m. Individuals who would like to purchase and have their loved ones names read must have the orders in to Hospice of Washington County by November 27, 2012. This year’s Christmas tree is a 25-foot Blue Spruce, and it was donated by Harold Burgesser of Williamsport.
Hagerstown’s Children’s Theater will sing carols at the stage on Virginia Avenue during the lighting of displays. After the lighting, the Hager House will host tours and a winter petting zoo! Refreshments will be served and are donated by We Care Neighborhoods 1st and the Fairgrounds Crime Watch.
The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will feature music and free refreshments. At the Mansion House Art Center there will be music, Santa Claus and free refreshments.
The Antique Tractor Club will provide free hayrides to each location in the City Park.
The Master of Ceremonies will be Lou Scally, and Mayor Dave Gysberts along with members of City Council will assist with the official lighting ceremony.
